Sean Keppie’s third season at South Sydney was rewarded with a new contract, with the powerful prop extending his time in the Red and Green through the 2027 and 2028 seasons. Keppie made 18 NRL appearances in 2026, contributing both as a starting front rower and from the interchange.
After beginning the year off the bench, Keppie earned a place in the starting side at prop from round seven and became a regular presence through the middle of the field.
One of his strongest performances came against the Newcastle Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium in round nine. Keppie played 64 minutes, made a line break and powered over for his try of the season.
He continued to provide plenty of punch with the football, running for a season-high 138 metres against the North Queensland Cowboys in round 12. Another strong outing came against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in round 24, where he ran for 117 metres and broke three tackles.
Keppie’s physicality through the middle remained an important part of his game, regularly taking on the tough carries and providing a platform for the Rabbitohs’ attack. Across the season, he ran for 1,318 metres at an average of 73 metres per game, adding 17 tackle breaks and five offloads while making 398 tackles in defence.
The season also brought a significant Club milestone in round 10 against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, with Keppie making his 50th NRL appearance in South Sydney colours.
Keppie finished his campaign from the interchange in the Elimination Final against the Newcastle Knights at Allianz Stadium, marking his 139th career NRL appearance.
With another 18 games in the Red and Green and his future secured for a further two seasons, Keppie heads into 2027 ready to continue playing an important role in the Rabbitohs’ forward pack.
