Dayne Jennings enjoyed a remarkable rise through the Rabbitohs’ pathways system in 2026, progressing from the SG Ball Cup to the NRL in the space of a single season. The talented young outside back made his first-grade debut, scored his maiden NRL try and finished the year with three appearances in the Red and Green.
Jennings began the season representing South Sydney in the SG Ball Cup, where he played an important role in the side’s finals campaign, including scoring a try in the semi-final victory over the Parramatta Eels.
His impressive progression through the grades was rewarded midway through the season when he earned his first opportunity in the NRL. Jennings made his first-grade debut against the Parramatta Eels in round 17, coming off the interchange for 26 minutes in a memorable milestone for the young Rabbitoh.
A week later, Jennings was named on the wing against the Penrith Panthers and made the most of his opportunity, playing the full 80 minutes and crossing for his first NRL try. He also produced two line breaks and ran for 118 metres in an impressive display of his attacking ability.
Jennings retained his place on the wing for round 19 against the Newcastle Knights, before his afternoon was cut short by a severe leg laceration. Despite the setback, Jennings showed plenty of promise in his first taste of NRL football, finishing 2026 with three first-grade appearances and a try to his name. He heads into 2027 with valuable experience under his belt and plenty of potential to build on.
