Cody Walker was the creative engine of South Sydney's attack in 2026. Playing 24 NRL games, all but one of them at five-eighth, the long-serving playmaker finished the season with 26 try assists, the most of any Rabbitoh, along with 27 line-break assists and nine tries of his own.
Walker set the tone from opening night, producing the kind of attacking performance Rabbitohs Members and fans have come to expect from the experienced five-eighth. Against the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium in round one, he laid on two tries and forced four drop-outs as South Sydney opened the season with a 40-30 victory.
His own try-scoring came in bursts throughout the year. Walker crossed for doubles against the Canberra Raiders in round six, Newcastle Knights in round nine and Parramatta Eels in round 17, before adding further tries against the Raiders in round 20, New Zealand Warriors in round 25 and Sydney Roosters in round 27.
At the heart of South Sydney’s attack, Walker continued to create opportunities with the vision, timing and instinct that have defined his career in the Red and Green. His ability to play what was in front of him remained a constant threat, while his kicking game provided another avenue to build pressure and control matches.
Across the season, Walker made 11 line breaks, broke 35 tackles and produced 14 offloads while running for 1,553 metres. He also kicked for 3,534 metres and forced 11 drop-outs, complementing his attacking influence with 395 tackles in defence.
The season also brought another significant chapter in Walker’s place among the Club’s greats. In round 10 against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, he made his 232nd first-grade appearance for South Sydney, moving past former teammate Adam Reynolds into outright fourth on the Rabbitohs’ all-time games list.
Another milestone followed against the Melbourne Storm in round 21 when Walker reached 240 first-grade games for the Club, continuing a journey that began with his Rabbitohs debut in 2016.
His influence remained on show as the regular season reached its conclusion. Walker crossed against the New Zealand Warriors in round 25 before finding the try line again in South Sydney’s 50-20 victory over the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium in round 27.
Walker then started at five-eighth in the Elimination Final against the Newcastle Knights at Allianz Stadium, bringing his season and career tally to 247 first-grade appearances for South Sydney.
After 11 seasons in the Red and Green, Walker now sits on 109 tries for the Rabbitohs, placing him fourth on the Club’s all-time try-scoring list. With 247 appearances also placing him among South Sydney’s most-capped players, his name continues to climb some of the most significant lists in the Club’s history.
More than a decade into his first-grade career, Walker remains one of the most influential figures in South Sydney’s attack. His creativity, instinct and ability to unlock a defence continued to shine throughout 2026, adding another chapter to an outstanding career spent entirely in the Red and Green.
