Euan Aitken gave South Sydney a reliable presence on the edge in 2026. In his second season with the Club, the Scottish international made 18 NRL appearances between the second row and the interchange, scored six tries and finished with a tackle efficiency of 95.87%.
A seasoned campaigner who joined the Rabbitohs after stints with the St George Illawarra Dragons, New Zealand Warriors and the Dolphins, Aitken brought versatility and toughness to the forward pack in every role he was handed.
He started the season strongly, running for 129 metres and breaking five tackles against the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium in round one.
Aitken found the try line regularly through the middle of the season, crossing against the Melbourne Storm in round eight before scoring again against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in round 10, where he also ran for 136 metres. He backed that up with another try, 122 running metres and six tackle breaks against the Dolphins in round 11, before adding another four-pointer against the Parramatta Eels in round 17.
One of his biggest efforts of the season came against the Canberra Raiders in round 20. Aitken played the full 80 minutes, ran for 145 metres and made 44 tackles in a tireless performance on the edge.
Across the year, Aitken ran for 1,814 metres at an average of 100 metres per game, while making 534 tackles. He also recorded five line breaks, 37 tackle breaks and eight offloads, providing plenty of work on both sides of the ball.
Aitken finished the regular season in strong try-scoring form, crossing in back-to-back matches against the Gold Coast Titans in round 26 and Sydney Roosters in round 27. His final regular season try came as the Rabbitohs closed out the campaign with an impressive 50-20 victory over the Roosters at Allianz Stadium.
With 224 NRL games now to his name, Aitken’s experience, consistency and willingness to take on the tough work continued to make him an important part of the Rabbitohs’ forward pack in 2026.
