Rabbitohs Pathways Humbled at Coogee Oval

The South Sydney Rabbitohs’ NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup teams have both been defeated at Coogee Oval this Sunday, ending some recent winning form for both teams.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs NSW Cup men’s team went down 42-18 to the Newtown Jets in the Rayner-Farrell Cup game played at Coogee Oval in Sunday.

The Rabbitohs trailed 24-6 at the half time break with second rower Thomas Fletcher crossing for a first half try.

In the second half, centre Leonard Skelton and captain Jacob Host crossed for four-pointers, but it was not enough to stem the flow of points from the Jets who scored seven tries to the Rabbitohs’ three.

The players rated as the best performers this week were fullback Ammaron Gudgeon, centre Henry O’Kane, Host, and hookers Ryan Gray and Daniel O’Donnell.

New recruit, winger Bailey Trew, scored a double for the Rabbitohs with five-eighth Ashton Ward also scoring a four-pointer.

Ward, fullback Charlie Poynton, centre Nicholas Quinn and prop Nazareth Taua were the Rabbitohs’ best on Sunday afternoon.
