📰 Senior Pathways Weekend Wrap | Round 19, 2026

The Senior Pathways teams had a mixed but encouraging weekend at Redfern Oval, with two wins from three matches across the programme. The Jersey Flegg Cup side produced a convincing 28-16 victory over the Knights, while the NSW Women's Premiership team also claimed a strong win against the same opposition. The Knock On Effect NSW Cup side went down in a competitive contest, but there were plenty of positives to take from a busy day of Rugby League at the spiritual home of the Club.

The Knock On Effect NSW Cup

In Round 19 of The Knock On Effect NSW Cup, the Rabbitohs fell to the Knights in a hard-fought contest at Redfern Oval. South Sydney trailed for much of the match but continued to fight, with Logan Dickson, Alan Holten and Franklin Pele all crossing for tries to keep the home side in the contest. Jonah Glover added two conversions from the tee.

Despite the eight-point margin, the Red and Green showed plenty of fight and will look to bounce back next weekend with lessons learned from this encounter.

Newcastle Knights 24 defeated South Sydney Rabbitohs 16 (Logan Dickson, Alan Holten, Franklin Pele tries; Jonah Glover two goals) at Redfern Oval.

Jersey Flegg Cup

The Jersey Flegg Cup side delivered an impressive performance in Round 19, claiming a 28-16 victory over the Knights at Redfern Oval. Five different players crossed the tryline for the Rabbitohs, with Assariah Lenoy Sam, Jaffahl Skillington, Mateus Heslin, Te Paeroa Wi Neera and Daniel Lua all finding their way to the chalk. Caleb Cresswell was in fine touch with the boot, slotting four goals to round out the scoring.

The 12-point winning margin reflected a well-rounded team effort, with tries spread across the backline and forward pack alike.

South Sydney Rabbitohs 28 (Assariah Lenoy Sam, Jaffahl Skillington, Mateus Heslin, Te Paeroa Wi Neera, Daniel Lua tries; Caleb Cresswell four goals) defeated Newcastle Knights 16 at Redfern Oval.

NSW Women's Premiership

In Round five of the NSW Women's Premiership, the Rabbitohs secured a quality 24-16 win over the Knights at Redfern Oval. Summer van Gelder opened the try-scoring for South Sydney, with Lanulangi Veainu, Claudia Brown and Hana Laufale also crossing to give the Cardinal and Myrtle four tries for the afternoon. Kiara McGregor added three conversions to complete the scoring.

It was a composed performance from the women's side, who continue to build momentum through the early rounds of their competition.

Two wins from three matches represents a solid return for the Senior Pathways programme this weekend. The Jersey Flegg Cup and NSW Women's Premiership sides can carry confidence into the coming rounds, while the NSW Cup team will look to regroup and respond. With all three teams playing at Redfern Oval, it was a great day of Rugby League for the South Sydney faithful who came out to support the next generation of Rabbitohs talent.
