On this day in 1952, Johnny Graves scored three tries and kicked ten goals in a 50-0 win over Easts at the SCG.

Graves played his entire career with South Sydney between 1947-1952. A winger with a brilliant show of speed, he crossed for 79 tries and also kicked 158 goals in the six seasons.

A Maitland local, Graves was picked up by the Rabbitohs after terrorising a touring England side during an exhibition match, in which he was representing Newcastle.

Nicknamed 'Whacka', arguably his most memorable moment was when he bagged four tries in the 1951 Grand Final thrashing of Manly. Graves also represented Australia between 1948-1951.
