The South Sydney Rabbitohs NSW Cup side has claimed it’s second victory in two weeks, this time over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, which lifts them off the bottom of the competition ladder, whilst the Jersey Flegg Cup team suffered a close loss, fielding one of the youngest teams in the competition against the Bulldogs in round 15.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs NSW Cup side has secured the two competition points over the Bulldogs on Sunday, claiming a 36 points to 22 victory at Accor Stadium.
The Rabbitohs ran in six-tries-to-five against the more fancied Bulldogs line up, despite losing two players with NRL experience, Fletcher Myers and Matthew French, to head knocks in the first half.
Five-eighth Ashton Ward scored 16 points from a try and six goals, whilst edge player Henry O’Kane scored a double, one try in each half, to claim the win.
Ward, O’Kane, fullback Ammaron Gudgeon, winger Haizan Mellars, centre Talanoa Penitani, halfback Lewis Dodd, props Salesi Ataata, Tim Johannssen and Toesami Toevai, and back rower Jacob Host were rated the Rabbitohs’ best. Special mention goes to Johannssen who played the full 80 minutes of the match in the middle.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs Jersey Flegg Cup under 21s men’s team fell just short of a victory over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Redfern Oval on Saturday, going down 34 points to 30.
The Rabbitohs trailed 34 points to 18 with just over ten minutes remaining on the clock before scoring two late tries to mount a spirited comeback. However time on the clock ran out and the Rabbitohs fell just short of taking home the two competition points.
Fullback Charlie Poynton scored 18 of South Sydney’s 30 points on Saturday. Poynton, winger Jacob Fong, five-eighth Taj Alvarez, second rower Joshua Alhazim, lock Yehya Ayache and middle forward Nathaniel Gallo were rated as the Rabbitohs’ best.
Eight of the Rabbitohs’ 17 players that took the field on Saturday played in the Club’s successful SG Ball Cup under 19s team this year, and they are making the step up to play in the under 21s competition in the second half of the season.
