Footy Fun, Friendship and Creativity Shine at Souths Cares Junior Holiday Clinic

Souths Cares wrapped up another successful round of Junior Holiday Clinics last week, engaging more than 100 enthusiastic kids across two days at Redfern Oval and Heffron Park. The clinics provided an opportunity for young participants to get active, learn new skills, and connect with their peers in a fun and supportive environment.

Led by Souths Cares staff, Rabbitohs Ambassadors and development coaches, the sessions focused on skill development, teamwork and confidence, all while enjoying the sunshine and plenty of laughs. Participants took part in a range of footy-based activities, learning new techniques in passing, tackling and agility, with a strong emphasis on inclusion and participation for all ability levels.

A highlight of the clinics was the addition of a dedicated Art and Craft Station, which gave kids the chance to get creative and express themselves off the field. With guidance from Souths Cares mentors, participants designed their very own Rabbitohs-inspired jerseys and learnt the traditional art of weaving activities that proved just as popular as the on-field action.

To keep energy levels high, all participants enjoyed a nutritious lunch provided by Souths Cares’ Health and Wellbeing team, reinforcing the importance of healthy eating and fueling the body for sport.

“With less than a quarter of Australian children meeting daily activity guidelines, it’s never been more important to provide fun, accessible ways for kids to get moving. Our holiday clinics are about more than football they’re about giving young people a chance to be active, connect with others and build healthy habits that last well beyond the school holidays.”

With plenty of smiles, new friendships and memories made, the Souths Cares Junior Holiday Clinics once again proved to be a highlight of the school break inspiring the next generation of Rabbitohs stars both on and off the field.
