It was a determined showing from the Rabbitohs Pathways sides over the weekend, with the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership team storming back to draw with the Panthers and the Jersey Flegg Cup team recording a strong win over the Knights in Newcastle. Meanwhile, the NSW Cup side fell short despite a much-improved second half.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs NSW Cup side went down 36-points-to-24 to the Newcastle Knights on Sunday, with a second-half resurgence not enough to overturn a heavy early deficit at McDonald Jones Stadium.
The Rabbitohs were left chasing the game after trailing 30 points to nil at the break, with the Knights scoring six unanswered tries in the opening half. South Sydney responded with four second-half tries through Thomas Fletcher, Salesi Ataata, Fletcher Myers and Matt French, but a late intercept try to the Knights halted any hopes of a comeback.
Declan Casey, Ashton Ward, Tim Johannssen, Thomas Fletcher and Peter Mamouzelos were among the Rabbitohs’ best on the day.
