From Boys to Leaders: Souths Cares’ “Deadly Boys 2 Deadly Men"

In the heart of South Sydney, a powerful transformation is underway. The Deadly Boys 2 Deadly Men training group, part of the Souths Cares community Program, is helping young Indigenous boys and men grow into confident, responsible leaders.

One standout story is that of Parram Hunt, a 16-year-old who has overcome personal and academic challenges to become a rising leader among his peers. After being re-referred to the program by his mother and school, Parram has embraced weekly mentoring sessions and targeted workshops at Inner Sydney High School. His journey led him to the Deadly Boys 2 Deadly Men group—a safe space where young men connect, share, and grow together

Outside the classroom, these young men of the South Sydney community have found discipline and purpose through regular gym sessions at the Rabbitohs Heffron centre. These sessions, held once a week, are more than just workouts—they’re part of a holistic approach to wellbeing and personal development.

Yileen Gordon, Mentor

“There is emerging leaders among this group , demonstrating confidence, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility.”

Many of the young men and adults come from different walks of life but share the same driving factor when they enter the Rabbitohs Heffron centre to be best version of themselves each day through positive actions and daily training.

Parram, DB2DM Mentee

“Souths Cares and the DYMP helped me regain focus and drive in my life, giving me the support and direction I needed to get back on track and start working towards my goals.”
