Mr Sharkey, a significant benefactor for Souths Cares and a renowned supporter of the Rabbitohs, has a plaque displayed in the Souths Cares Community Classroom at the USANA Rabbitohs Centre at Heffron Park in Maroubra, commemorating his life and his commitment to social justice, including the work of Souths Cares and the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The Committee for Equality and Social Justice made a significant contribution in Mr Sharkey’s name to support the ongoing charitable work of Souths Cares and the many programs which are run from the Souths Cares Community Classroom.

The plaque is dedicated to Mr Sharkey and his lasting legacy of support for the community which is so well served by Souths Cares and the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The plaque was unveiled in February 2022 by Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly, Souths Cares CEO Alisha Parker-Elrez and Trustee of the Committee for Equality and Social Justice, Paula Sharkey.

Ms Parker-Elrez said: “This is very sad news and all of our thoughts and prayers go out to Paula, the Sharkey family and the many people they have assisted throughout the years.

“Stan’s extraordinary support of Souths Cares has provided us with this wonderful classroom facility which will help enrich the lives of tens of thousands of kids and community members over the coming decades.

“It is our honour to dedicate the classroom in his memory and to ensure many more people feel the generosity of Stan, Paula and the entire Sharkey family for many years to come.”

On behalf of everyone connected to the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Souths Cares, we offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr Stan Sharkey.
