The South Sydney Rabbitohs took their game off the field and into the classroom this week, with NRL squad members joining the Souths Cares Wellbeing team and a number of the club's admin staff for the Rabbitohs Wellbeing Blitz. The action-packed initiative saw 14 schools throughout the South Sydney region— reaching more than 2,900 students in a single day.
The heart of the workshop was built around the Rabbitohs Wellbeing Program built around three simple but powerful pillars: Nutrition, Movement, and Sleep. Students got stuck in with hands-on, interactive sessions tailored for both primary and secondary school levels, walking away with practical tips they can actually use every day.
Of course, having real-life NRL players in the room doesn't hurt. The Rabbitohs squad brought plenty of energy to the sessions, sharing their own stories around health and wellbeing in a way that clearly struck a chord. There's something pretty special about hearing directly from the athletes you've got on your bedroom wall.
Teachers were full of praise for the visits, with the buzz carrying well beyond the school bell.
It's a great reminder that the Rabbitohs' impact stretches far beyond game day. With the Wellbeing Program continuing to grow, the club — players and all — is helping lay the foundation for healthier, happier communities across South Sydney, one school at a time.
Danielle McClure , Teacher at St Margaret Mary's Catholic Primary School"I just wanted to pass on a huge thank you to everyone who helped make today happen. Our students absolutely loved it - as did I! We’ve had a few of these days over the years from various clubs, but all the teachers commented that this one was a standout. It was exceptionally well organised and run, and both Jack and Dean were engaging with the students and genuinely looked happy to be here.''
