Souths Cares Partners with Dementia Training Australia

Souths Cares is proud to announce a landmark partnership with Dementia Training Australia (DTA), to bring free, practical dementia education and training to communities across Australia.

Dementia is now the leading cause of death in Australia. Most of us have a grandparent, parent, neighbour, or friend who has been touched by it. This partnership is about making sure that when those moments come, carers and family members are equipped to provide support.

Through hands-on workshops, community activations and publicly accessible training resources, Souths Cares and DTA will give individuals and families the tools to spot early signs of dementia, start caring conversations, and support the people they love — with confidence and kindness.

Dr. Isabelle Meyer, Executive Director of Dementia Training Australia

Dementia is something that most of us will encounter at some point, whether in our own families or in the lives of people close to us. Souths Cares has spent the past two decades supporting young people, families and communities that are often the hardest to reach, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Through this partnership, DTA can ensure that the best training and education are available to those families when they need it most, because that is what underpins the best standard of care.

What This Partnership Delivers

A dedicated Dementia Training Resource Hub will be established on the Rabbitohs website, providing free and publicly accessible training resources, research, and referral information in line with DTA’s best practice.

Souths Cares and DTA will also co-facilitate 'Train the Trainer' workshops hosted in the Souths Cares Classroom, designed specifically for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Mentors and community members.

At its core, the partnership brings Souths Cares and DTA together to promote and expand access to the comprehensive training, education and free resources available through DTA. In April 2026, DTA will be the exclusive sponsor of the Souths Cares Regional Health Promotion Tour to Perth, facilitating dementia education workshops at every community activation and school visit throughout the Tour.

DTA will also be the official Match Day Partner for the South Sydney Rabbitohs' Round 15 NRL home game against the Brisbane Broncos, bringing dementia awareness messaging to thousands of fans on game day.
