Last Friday the Souths Cares team attended Robert Walters' annual Charity Day. Each year the Robert Walters Sydney office selects a charity to fundraise on behalf of, with this year being the first time Souths Cares has been involved.

The Robert Walters office was decked out in Red and Green in support of Souths Cares, with the day kicking off with a presentation and Q&A session from Souths Cares team members Nakia Davis-Welsh, Thomas Johnson and Angus Robilliard.

Nakia and Thomas discussed the impact of the Deadly Youth Mentoring Program and Nanga Mai Marri (Dream Big) Program as well as the important role which grass roots Rugby League plays within Indigenous communities. Nakia also reflected on her Rugby League career and the sacrifices she has made to pursue her dreams of playing NRLW and representing Australia, NSW and the Indigenous All Stars.

After the Souths Cares presentation, staff tested their Rugby League passing skills and then nominated colleagues to be ‘pied in the face’ in return for a charitable donation. Later in the afternoon, the charity auction and raffle were drawn which included some great items donated by the firm’s clients to support the event.

Throughout the day, over $18,000 in funds was raised for Souths Cares, highlighting the generosity and great spirit of the Robert Walters team.

Daniel Connors, Robert Walters Director

Our annual charity day at Robert Walters Sydney was a great success and we were thrilled to raise over $18,000 in donations for Souths Cares. A huge thanks to our staff and clients who came together to make it happen. The fundraising is just the start of our partnership, and we are looking forward to supporting Souths Cares’ education and employment programs over the coming months.

Souths Cares partnership with Robert Walters includes a number of other initiatives in addition to the fundraising efforts, with an upcoming industry visit for participants in Souths Cares mentoring programs and Robert Walters attending Souths Cares Employment, Education and Wellbeing Expo next week.

Alisha Parker Elrez, Souths Cares CEO paid tribute to the staff who supported the annual charity day.

"A big thankyou to all of the team at Robert Walters who supported the 2023 Charity Day and raised funds for Souths Cares. We look forward to working together in the future and building our partnership", Alisha said.
