South Sydney Rabbitohs forward Ben Kaberry has been selected in the NSW Under 17s Invitational team to face Warrington Under 17s at McCredie Park, Guildford on Saturday, 25 October.
Kaberry, 17, is a powerful prop-forward who has made an impressive rise through the Rabbitohs’ pathways. A product of Knox College and the Coogee-Randwick Wombats in the Souths Juniors system, Kaberry represented the Combined Independent Schools (CIS) at the ASSRL Championships earlier this year and has continued to develop into one of the most promising young forwards in the state.
In 2025, he featured in nine matches for the Rabbitohs’ Harold Matthews Cup Under 17s team, his first season in the Club’s junior representative program, and has since earned selection in the NSW squad as recognition for his outstanding form.
Kaberry is contracted with the Rabbitohs through the 2026 and 2027 seasons, continuing the family’s proud connection to South Sydney.
The NSWRL confirmed the squad on Monday, with players chosen from across the UNE Harold Matthews Cup and SLE Laurie Daley Cup competitions. The team will be coached by former Wests Tigers and Cronulla Sharks dual premiership-winner Chris Heighington, who will oversee preparations based at the NSWRL Centre of Excellence at Sydney Olympic Park, with additional sessions at Tom Wills Oval.
Entry for the NSW Under 17s Invitational match is free, with the game also to be streamed live on NSWRL TV via Bar TV, available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
