Ward, Tupou-Witchman and Alhazim Take Out Top Pathways Awards in 2025

Rabbitohs half Ashton Ward has won the NSW Cup Player of the Year award at tonight’s Senior Pathways Awards night, with second rower Jazmon Tupou-Witchman taking out the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership Player of the Year title, and forward Josh Alhazim claiming the award for the Jersey Flegg Cup squad.

Ward, who was originally signed at the Rabbitohs with an expectation of playing in the Jersey Flegg Cup team, played 17 games of NSW Cup in 2025, going to make his NRL debut at the back end of the season, registering six games in first grade. Ward scored 78 points in the NSW Cup competition this season from four tries and 31 goals, making him the team’s leading points scorer in 2025. Ward was elusive at all levels at which he played in 2025, earning his NRL debut with strong performances at the NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup level throughout the year.

Tupou-Witchman captained the Rabbitohs’ Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership team throughout the 2025 season, playing in all 11 games in the regular season. The former NRLW player scored one try, but it was her hard work, powerful running and defence, and her leadership, which made her stand out from the pack in 2025.

Alhazim played in a variety of positions in the forward pack throughout the 2025 season, registering 17 games for South Sydney at the under 21s men’s level this year. He scored 20 points from five tries, but the hallmarks of his game are his quick feet and aggressive style of play in both attack and defence.

The Players’ Player Awards for 2025, voted on after each game by their respective teams, were won by prop Tim Johannssen in NSW Cup, five-eighth Luisa Yaranamua for the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership squad, and forward Yehya Ayache for the Jersey Flegg Cup team.

The Coaches Award winners, as selected by the coaching staff for each grade, were second rower Thomas Fletcher in NSW Cup, hooker Seli Mailangi for the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership team, and prop Nathaniel Gallo for the under 21s men’s Jersey Flegg Cup squad.

The Senior Pathways Clubperson of the Year was won by Head of Medical Pathways, Bernie Chau, for his hard work and dedication to the pathways teams and the players at the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Congratulations to all of tonight’s Senior Pathways award winners for the 2025 season.
