The South Sydney Rabbitohs are mourning the passing of former second rower and prop forward, Mark Gregory Lyons, who passed away last week at the age of 52.
Mr Lyons was born in 1971 in Sydney and played his junior football with the Cambridge Park Panthers. Penrith graded him in 1990, where he mainly played in their Presidents Cup Under-21s side, which was a third grade competition at the time.
He made his first grade debut with the Panthers in 1991 in round 14 against North Sydney, playing in seven top grade games overall for the club.
Mr Lyons joined the Rabbitohs in 1993 after showing some clever skills in the Panthers' back row. He made the most of his opportunities at Souths in 1993, making his Rabbitohs debut in 1993 against Brisbane in the first round. In the three seasons he played at the club he played in 50-grade games, scoring four tries. 19 of those games were in first grade.
Mr Lyons’ funeral will be live streamed on Monday 29 May at 2pm at this link.
On behalf of everyone connected to the South Sydney Rabbitohs, we offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr Mark Gregory Lyons at this difficult time.
