Ty Ty’s ‘Shake ‘n’ Bake’ Wins Macca’s Try of the Year Award

The stunning ‘shake ‘n’ bake’ try scored by Rabbitohs winger Tyrone Munro in South Sydney’s 40-0 drubbing of the St George Illawarra Dragons in round 25 has been award the Macca’s Try of the Year award for season 2025.

Members and supporters had the chance to vote for their try of the year and they selected this 85-metre stunner from the Botany Rams junior.

MACCAS Try of the Year

Starting 15-metres out from his own line, Munro beats two Dragons’ defenders on the right edge, charging down the right-hand-side of the field over the halfway line.

Dragons fullback Clint Gutherson was the last line of defence for Ty Ty to beat, and 40-metres out from the Dragons goal line he shimmied, he shook and he baked the experienced Gutherson to leave him for dust, eventually stepping off his left foot to get outside his opposite man and cruise the final 30-metres to score the most memorable try of the season!

Channel 9 commentator Mat Thompson was screaming: “Get that into ya!” as Munro dived over the line to score another four-pointer for the men in red and green.

Munro received his Try of the Year award at the Red and Green Ball tonight from NRL Assistant Coach Ben Hornby.

Congratulations to Tyrone Munro on winning the Macca’s Try of the Year award for 2025.
