Rabbitohs Institute of Sports Management delivered by TAFE NSW Open Applications

The Rabbitohs Institute of Sports Management delivered by TAFE NSW Open Applications for 2026 students

Following the success of its first two student intakes, the South Sydney Rabbitohs, in collaboration with TAFE NSW, are excited to announce that applications are now open for the next two student cohorts of the Rabbitohs Institute of Sports Management, delivered by TAFE NSW, starting in February 2026 and July 2026.

The program provides students with an accredited education and training pathway in sports management, blending theoretical learning and training with over 100 hours of real-world work experience across the Rabbitohs’ high-performance environment. Students are immersed in a unique combination of classroom teaching and hands-on learning at the cutting-edge USANA Rabbitohs Centre in Maroubra, while also studying at the newly reopened Reg Richardson AO Training and Learning Centre at Redfern Oval, the spiritual home of the Rabbitohs.

Since its launch, the Rabbitohs Institute of Sports Management, has already made a significant impact, with the first two student cohorts completing more than 3,500 hours of combined work experience across both internal Rabbitohs departments and other organisations. This hands-on learning and training has given students invaluable industry insights that will help support their future careers.

Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly said the program has delivered an innovative education and training opportunity for aspiring sports management professionals.

Rabbitohs CEO Blake Solly

“We are incredibly proud of the first two student cohorts already progressing through the program. They’ve had the opportunity to experience first-hand what it’s like to work inside a professional sporting organisation, while gaining nationally recognised qualifications. We look forward to welcoming the next group of students who will follow in their footsteps.”

Graduates will complete the BSB50420 - Diploma of Leadership and Management and SIS50122 - Diploma of Sport, Aquatics and Recreation Management, providing a nationally recognised qualification with pathways into university degrees.

A key feature of the program is the Rabbitohs’ ongoing commitment to creating career opportunities:

• A minimum of two graduates across the cohorts will be offered full-time graduate positions within the organisation.

• Students who complete their 100 hours of practical learning may also be considered for casual employment during their studies.

Kim McDonald, Team Leader, Health and Recreation, TAFE NSW

“The dual diploma program in Leadership & Management, and Sport, Aquatics and Recreation Management is empowering young people in our community with the education, skills, and real-world experience they need for success in a field they’re keen to start a career in. Graduates will be equipped with the expertise, skills and confidence to take on leadership roles across the sports industry across roles such as program manager, sports administration manager, sports facilities manager, and sports development officer. Through TAFE NSW partnership with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, we’re proud to support the development of future sports management professionals.”
