Rabbitohs Wellbeing Tour Inspires Thousands of Students Across the Southern High

The South Sydney Rabbitohs Wellbeing team recently brought their impactful regional tour to the Southern Highlands, engaging almost 2000 young people through targeted health education workshops and skills clinics. Across several schools, students were empowered to take charge of their wellbeing through interactive sessions, meaningful conversations, and hands-on experiences that combined health knowledge with the joy of sport.

At the heart of the tour were two specialised workshops; Your Health: OWN IT! and Your Online Footprint which together reached 1802 student engagements. In Your Health: OWN IT!, students explored key pillars of health including nutrition, movement and sleep, gaining practical tools to better understand how everyday choices impact both physical fitness and mental wellbeing. The workshop was designed to be interactive and relatable, helping students build confidence in making positive health decisions that support daily performance and long-term wellbeing.

Meanwhile, the Your Online Footprint sessions guided students through navigating digital spaces safely and responsibly. In a world where online interaction is ever-present, this workshop encouraged young people to think critically about the digital traces they leave behind and how these can influence relationships, future opportunities and self-worth.

Andrew Barnes – Principal, Exeter Public School.

“Our students were engaged in the workshops, with some great responses. It made our students think deeply about how to stay safe online and how to live a healthy lifestyle. The presenters engaged our students in deep conversation and provided them with strategies to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Since the visit, we’ve observed our students being more active in the playground. The skills and games played on the day have encouraged our students to get the football out and enjoy being active.”

In addition to the in-school activity, the Rabbitohs Wellbeing team engaged with the local junior league to run a targeted skills clinic accompanied by a tailored youth Nutrition workshop. Engaging the junior league participants with an education in how best to fuel their bodies for training and play sport while also leading them through skill development and Rugby League conditioning drills.

Hunter, U14’s junior league participant.

“I really enjoyed the clinic because we worked on things like our more accurate passing, catching under pressure, and defensive positioning, which helped me feel more confident in my game. Learning about what foods to eat for energy and recovery was also really helpful, and I know it will help me perform better each week.”

Throughout the tour, the Rabbitohs Wellbeing team’s engaging and supportive approach ensured participants felt both welcomed and motivated. By combining education with movement and fun, the tour provided students with knowledge and experiences that promote healthier choices on and off the field.

The Southern Highlands Wellbeing Tour continues the Rabbitohs’ broader commitment to empowering regional communities through wellbeing and sport, building healthier, more resilient young Australians ready to own their future.
