Rabbitohs Business Chamber Fundraising Luncheon Celebrates Indigenous Excellence

Last Friday, we hosted the 2025 Rabbitohs Business Chamber Fundraising Luncheon at the Ivy Ballroom — an inspiring afternoon of connection, culture, and community.

The event opened with a warm and heartfelt welcome from Aunty Barb Simms, a proud Bidjigal and Wadi Wadi woman, setting the tone for a memorable afternoon, followed by a performance from the Wambuul Dancers.

Our First Nations Business discussion featured James Widders-Leece (BY Group), Dean Widders (SunUp) and Souths Cares CEO Alisha Parker-Elrez, exploring how First Nations enterprises are creating opportunity, economic empowerment, and lasting social impact.

Our Souths Cares panel with Program Mentors Yileen Gordon, Rhys Wesser, Brittney Simpson, and Nanga Mai Marri Program Mentee, Imogen Grant, offered an inside look at the programs driving change in education, employment, and health & wellbeing across our community.

Guests also participated in live and silent auctions — with standout items like our Indigenous Signed Jersey and an Indigenous Round Experience — all helping raise vital funds to ensure Souths Cares can continue delivering life-changing initiatives.

With over 60 Rabbitohs Business Chamber members in attendance, it was a fantastic opportunity for Rabbitohs corporate partners to network and celebrate Indigenous excellence in business.

We wrapped up the day with full hearts (and a few empty wallets!) knowing every bid, conversation, and connection will help Souths Cares keep delivering programs that change lives.
