Mellars to Depart at Season’s End

Rabbitohs outside back Haizyn Mellars will depart the Club at season’s end to take up an extended contract at another NRL Club.

Mellars moved to Sydney to join the Rabbitohs in 2023, having been part of the Club’s elite pathways and player development squad in south-east Queensland since 2020. Haizyn has gone on to play in nine NSW Cup and 12 Jersey Flegg Cup games so far in his career. He is yet to make his NRL debut.

Rabbitohs CEO, Blake Solly, said: “Haizyn is a lovely young man and is a popular figure around the Club, however unfortunately due to injuries, he has not been able to play consistent football and show his wares over the past three seasons.

“We wish Haizyn all the very best of luck at his new club and he is always welcome at the Rabbitohs.”
