South Sydney Rabbitohs fullback Jye Gray has been crowned the Jack Rayner Players’ Player award winner for season 2025, presented by South Sydney premiership-winning player and current NRL Football Manager, Jason Clark, at tonight’s Red and Green Ball.
Voted by the players following each game of the season, Gray was the leader after round 27, with his performance against in the final round deciding the winner. Gray finished slightly ahead of forwards Tallis Duncan and Keaon Koloamatangi once all votes from the season were tallied.
Gray had a stellar season for what was just his second year in the NRL. Playing in 19 games this year, he scored five tries and registered six try assists. He amassed 61 tackle breaks and eight line breaks throughout the season.
Gray led the Dally M awards voting early in the season before injury took him out of play for a number of weeks. When he returned to the field, he showed exactly what he is made of, playing a variety of positions including fullback and five-eighth, lighting up stadiums all around the country with his pace and evasiveness.
The Players' Player award is named after legendary Rabbitohs player and coach, Jack Rayner. Rayner won five Premierships with South Sydney in six seasons in the Club's golden era between 1950 and 1955, as both captain and captain/coach. His legacy at the Rabbitohs lives on to this day, remembered as an honest, tough, hardworking forward during the days when some of the most brutal Rugby League was played.
Congratulations to Jye Gray on being crowned the Jack Rayner Players’ Player award winner by his teammates for the 2025 season, his fourth award for the 2025 season.
