The South Sydney Rabbitohs’ SG Ball Cup and Harold Matthews Cup teams are playing in week one finals matches this weekend in their pursuit of premiership success, whilst the NSW Cup team will play in the first leg of the Mario Fenech Cup for 2025 against the North Sydney Bears.
The third-placed South Sydney Rabbitohs’ SG Ball Cup under 19s men’s team has qualified for the finals for the first time since 2021, and the seventh-placed South Sydney Rabbitohs Harold Matthews Cup under 17s boys’ team has qualified for the finals for the first time since 2019. This is the first time since 2015 that both the SG Ball Cup and Harold Matthews Cup teams have both qualified for the finals.
The SG Ball Cup team will play in a qualifying final against the second-placed Canberra Raiders outfit at HE Laybutt Sporting Complex on Sunday 13 April at 1pm. The winner of this match will move straight through to the preliminary finals with the loser of this match to play in week two of the finals in an elimination semi-final.
The Harold Matthews Cup team will take on the sixth-placed Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in an elimination final on Sunday 13 April at 11:30am at HE Laybutt Sporting Complex. The winner of this match will move forward to a week two finals appearance in an elimination semi-final, however the loser of this match will be eliminated from the finals.
The round six NSW Cup fixture will be played at Industree Group Stadium in Gosford on Sunday 13 April at 3pm in the third iteration of the Mario Fenech Cup. The Rabbitohs will be looking to take the lead in the race for the Mario Fenech Cup with a win in this game, with the winner determined by the aggregate scores across both regular season matches played each season.
In round six, the Rabbitohs’ Jersey Flegg Cup under 21s men’s team will play the Melbourne Storm at AAMI Park on Sunday 13 April at 11:30am as a curtain raiser to the Storm vs Warriors NRL game.
