Rabbitohs NRL squad for Round 21 against Storm this Friday

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are pleased to announce their squad for their round 21 match against the Melbourne Storm to be played this Friday 24 July at 8pm at Accor Stadium.

Rabbitohs Head Coach Wayne Bennett has named Latrell Siegwalt in the centres to replace the injured Tallis Duncan, and Lachlan Hubner at lock to replace the injured Cameron Murray.

Demetia Training Australia will be the match day partner for the Rabbitohs vs Storm NRL game this Friday night.

Dementia is now the leading cause of death in Australia. Around 450,000 Australians live with dementia and that number is expected to more than double to one million by the middle of this century. Which means dementia is something we all need to know about.

Indigenous Australians have an outsized impact on Rugby League, making up 12-15% of NRL and NRLW players, but only around 4% of the wider population. Sadly, dementia has an outsized impact on Indigenous Australians. They are three to five times more likely to develop some form of dementia than the general population.

That’s why the partnership between Dementia Training Australia (DTA) and Souths Cares makes perfect sense and is poised to make a real difference by bringing free, practical dementia education and training to Indigenous communities across Australia.

The partnership will be in the spotlight at Accor Stadium on Friday 24 July, when Dementia Training Australia will be the Rabbitohs’ game-day partner for their clash with Melbourne. The partnership will give carers, families, and the wider community the skills and confidence to support Indigenous communities with culture and tradition in mind to ensure every person living with dementia receives safe, evidence-based care, wherever they are.

Through hands-on workshops, community activations and publicly accessible training resources, Souths Cares and DTA will give individuals and families the tools to spot early signs of dementia, start caring conversations, and support the people they love with confidence and kindness.

Dementia Training Australia offers free online courses to help educate people about dementia and how best to care for people living with dementia, especially as their numbers grow. People living with dementia are increasingly being cared for at home, so they are spending more time in the community, which means virtually everyone will at some point encounter a person living with dementia.

As part of the partnership with Souths Cares, DTA will be the match day partner for the Souths-Melbourne game on Friday 24 July, with DTA’s REMI the Wombat joining Reggie the Rabbit on field as part of the game day presentation.

This is also the public launch of a new dementia training tool - REMIplay - a free, interactive mobile app delivering game-based learning to help carers build confidence and practical skills for supporting people living with dementia.

The Stand With Jai fundraising campaign throughout July continues in round 21, with Rabbitohs premier partner, Budget Direct donating $1,000 for every try scored by the Rabbitohs throughout July. AirTouch will donate $10,000 if Head Coach Wayne Bennett does the arrow celebration in the coaches box during July, and NRL partners Coca-Cola and Select footy cards are also donating to the fundraising efforts for Jai Arrow, all as part of the Stand With Jai campaign.

This is the final game in the Budget Direct Footy Charity Championship, a competition which will see over $200,000 donated to charities nominated by Budget Direct-partner clubs the South Sydney Rabbitohs, the Dolphins and the Melbourne Storm.
