The Rabbitohs NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg Cup teams both went down to the more fancied Warriors outfits on Saturday, the under 21s suffering a last minute defeat.
In the NSW Cup open men’s game, the Warriors defeated the South Sydney Rabbitohs 24-points-to-six at Redfern Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors led 12-nil at the half time break and went on with it in the second half, despite a try to Rabbitohs back Leonard Skelton in the 66th minute.
Fullback Ammaron Gudgeon, centre Talanoa Penitani, winger Haizyn Mellars, five-eighth Ashton Ward, front rowers Shaquai Mitchell and Tim Johannssen, and second rower Jacob Host were the Rabbitohs’ best on field.

In the Jersey Flegg Cup under 21s men’s match, the Rabbitohs suffered a heartbreaking defeat, 30-points-to-26, with the New Zealanders crossing for a late try to snatch the win.
The Warriors led 12-nil early in proceedings but a try to Rabbitohs centre Zane Rugless reduced the deficit to six points at the half time break.
The Rabbitohs were leading midway through the second half via a dummy-half sneak under the posts to hooker Riley Frame, a spectacular try to middle forward Daniel Lua, another to winger Jacob Fong in the left corner and another to five-eighth and captain Nicholas Quinn on thew left hand side, establishing a 26-18 lead after 60 minutes.
However, the Warriors struck back with two tries, the second of which was scored in the 80th minute of play, to snatch the win 30-26.
Rugless, Fong, Quinn, Frame, Lua, halfback Matthew Humphries, front rowers Nazareth Taua, second rower Joshua Alhazim and interchange player Sam Taylor were rated the Rabbitohs’ best.
