A big bopper with an even bigger future ahead of him, Ky Rodwell will be looking to grow into the role of a regular first grader.
Hailing from the quiet country town of Bombala, New South Wales, up and coming forward Ky Rodwell made the move to Redfern two years ago following an outstanding performance against the Junior Rabbitohs at Cooma Showgrounds as a Group 16 player.
Rodwell’s Rabbitohs’ career started in 2016 with the Harold Matthews Cup side before making the jump to club’s NYC side last year. After making his Under 20’s debut in Round 8 against the Broncos.
Rodwell’s strong showings saw him selected for the Australian Schoolboys squad alongside fellow teammate Campbell Graham.
At just 18 years of age, Rodwell is the true definition of a team player who always puts the side’s efforts first. Equipped with a strong temperament and a work ethic second to none, Rodwell competes with vigour and toughness in everything he does.
“I’d like to develop as much as a player on the field, learning from all the older boys but also developing as a person as well.”
How he fits into the squad
A future in the NRL awaits Rodwell with the gun forward signed until the end of 2020. In 2018, he will be play a part with feeder club the North Sydney Bears in a bid to develop into a regular first grader.
His presence around regular first graders will be pushing them work hard as Head Coach Anthony Seibold looks to build a stack of depth in a number of positions.
General Manager of Football Shane Richardson
“Ky Rodwell is a work in progress, an Australian Schoolboy front rower from our junior system. He’s an outstanding prospect who we see over the few couple of years forcing his way into first grade.”
