South Sydney Rabbitohs young representative stars Kiara McGregor and Payton Tarau shone for City Origin in Country vs City matches last weekend, however our NSW Cup team went down to the Western Suburbs Magpies in Campbelltown on Sunday afternoon.
Kiara McGregor kicked the decisive golden point field goal in City’s win over Country in the under 19s women’s clash at Kogarah’s Jubilee Stadium on Sunday. McGregor scored seven of the City side’s 27 points including three conversion kicks and the one-pointer which decided the game. McGregor was awarded the player of the match award for her performance at halfback.
Payton Tarau was awarded the player of the match award for City under 16s following their 44-nil drubbing of Country on Saturday at Jubilee Stadium. Tarau played five-eighth and scored the opening try as well as kicking six goals. Prop Anthony Mailangi and utility Charlie Bateup also represented City under 16s, and Cody Hill played hooker for the City under 18s men’s team in their 30-14 victory over Country.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs’ NSW Cup men’s team went down to the Western Suburbs Magpies 24 points to six on Sunday afternoon at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in the first leg of the Sattler-Kelly Cup for 2025.
Prop Sean Keppie was the sole try scorer for the Rabbitohs with halfback Lewis Dodd kicking the goal.
Fullback Ammaron Gudgeon, centre Talanoa Penitani, winger Haizyn Mellars, hooker Ryan Gray, second rowers Jacob Host and Thomas Fletcher, and front rowers Shaquai Mitchell and Salesi Ataata were rated as the Rabbitohs’ best players.
