The South Sydney Rabbitohs are supporting retired Chief Petty Officer Ashley Semmens RAN to raise money for the Navy Clearance Divers Trust (NCDT) by donating $5 from every ANZAC Round jersey sold for his English Channel crossing challenge coming up in June.
Ash, a former clearance diver in the Royal Australian Navy, will be finning across the English Channel from 3-11 June in a world first challenge, using only fins on his feet, honouring RAN Clearance Divers.
With nearly 20 years of military service in elite roles such as a RAN Clearance Diver, Australian Ordnance Disposal Team member and Human Intelligence Officer, Ash continues his deep dedication to continuing to serve others with these fundraising efforts.

Ash was the youngest Navy member to deploy in active combat in Afghanistan and he spoke to the Rabbitohs’ NRL team in the week leading up to ANZAC Day about his experiences, resilience and willingness to complete a mission.
The Rabbitohs 2025 ANZAC Round paid tribute to the RAN Clearance Divers, a unit which includes the father of Rabbitohs player Tallis Duncan, Kaine Duncan.
The Rabbitohs’ donations of $5 from every ANZAC Round jersey sold will help with Ash’s fundraising efforts, however Rabbitohs Members and supporters can make further donations by clicking here.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs wish Ashley Semmens all the best of luck with his English Channel crossing and encourage all Members and supporters to follow his journey and donate what you can to this important cause.
