The South Sydney Rabbitohs are pleased to announce their squad for the 40th Charity Shield match against the St George Illawarra Dragons to be played this Saturday 18 February at 4:20pm AEDST at Glen Willow Stadium in Mudgee.
Rabbitohs Head Coach Jason Demetriou has named a 26-man squad for the 40th Charity Shield as the Rabbitohs aim to win back the title after going down to the Dragons in 2022.
Souths Cares is the Rabbitohs’ chosen charity for this game, an organisation that operates programs for disadvantaged, marginalized and Indigenous youth and their families in the South Sydney district, around the State and throughout the Country in the areas of education, training, health and employment. The NSW Cup trial match which was originally scheduled to be played at 1:15pm has now been moved to the secondary field at the Glen Willow Sporting Complex which will kick off at 10:30am on Saturday. Unfortunately no spectators will be admitted to watch this at the secondary field due to logistics. This NSW Cup game has been moved to the earlier time to meet the NSWRL’s heat protocols and to ensure the game is played, giving players a chance to trial before the start of their season proper.
Rabbitohs NSW Cup Coach Joe O’Callaghan has named 22 players in the squad for the match which will serve as a curtain raiser to the Charity Shield main game.
