Vale Fred Nelson

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are mourning the passing of the Fred Nelson who passed away on Monday, 11 June 2018, aged 83.

Fred was a Mascot junior who played in Souths' Presidents Cup side in 1954.

He played for the Rabbitohs between 1956 and 1961, including 82 first grade games (scoring nine tries), 28 reserve grade games (scoring three tries) and ten third grade games (scoring one try). His player number is 435 on our First Grade Player Register.

In 1967 he coached Arncliffe Scots in the NSWRL Second Division, and then coached the Rabbitohs reserve grade sides between 1968-72, winning the Premiership in his first year. 

On behalf of everyone connected with the Rabbitohs, we offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Fred Nelson.
