Five Rabbitohs women named for City Origin

Five South Sydney Rabbitohs women's team players have been named in the NSW City Origin side for the upcoming representative tournament on the Gold Coast.

Maddie Studdon, Lavina O'Mealey, Taleena Simon, Rebecca Riley and Chloe Caldwell, all feature in the starting side for the recently announced City squad as they get set to face NSW Country, Queensland Country, Queensland City, the Australian Defence Force and the Combined Affiliated States.

The five players will take their incredible regular season form into the tournament as they all look to impress selectors ahead of NSW Women's State of Origin.

NSW City will definitely fancy their chances of claiming the accolades on the Gold Coast with the undefeated Rabbitohs spine guiding them around the park.

Jillaroos Maddie Studdon and Lavina O'Mealey have been on a different playing field in this year's NSW Harvey Norman Women's Premiership with Studdon topping the individual points table, while fullback Taleena Simon heads up the try scorers lists with eight four-pointers in eight games this season.

On top of this, in-form forward Chloe Caldwell leads the line alongside impressive number nine Rebecca Riley, who returns to the City dummy-half role after a starring performance in 2017.

The six-team tournament on the Gold Coast kicks off on Friday 1 June and wraps on Sunday 3 June, with the Women's State of Origin taking off two weeks later on Friday 22 June at North Sydney Oval.
