A Look Back At: 2012

The Rabbitohs’ official website, www.rabbitohs.com.au, will be taking a look back at the past decade to see the growth of the Club over the past ten years.

Michael Maguire’s first season in charge at the Rabbitohs saw a return to dominance for the men in Red & Green as their devastating power game was brought together by the stunning debut of Adam Reynolds.

Reynolds would go on to claim the Dally M Rookie of the Year award for his breakout year. He scored 208 points through 3 tries, 97 goals and 2 field goals – finishing second on the point scorers list to Jarrod Croker.

The Rabbitohs set a Club point scoring record by earning 611 points in the season – Coming mainly from Reynolds, Inglis and strike wingers Merritt and Everingham.

Finishing in the top four for the first time since 1989 and winning our first finals match since 1987, the Rabbitohs came within one game of the Grand Final. The preliminary final would see our exit from the finals at the hands of the Bulldogs after Reynolds was forced off with a hamstring injury in front of 70,354 fans.

One Club hero Scott Geddes finished his career at the end of 2012 – being the last member of Souths original 2002 re-instatement team to leave Souths.
