Silverware is on the line this Saturday afternoon as the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Newtown Jets do battle at the historic Henson Park.
In front of an expected crowd of 8,972 at Henson Park, the NSW Cup men’s team will play for the Rayner-Farrell Cup against the Newtown Jets on Saturday 1 August at 3pm. The Rabbitohs need to make up an eight-point deficit to claim the silverware following Newtown’s 26-18 victory at Coogee Oval in round 10 in May.
The Rayner-Farrell Cup started in 2011 and is named after two legends of the South Sydney and Newtown clubs, Jack Rayner and Bumper Farrell. The winner is determined by the aggregate scores of the two regular season games played each year between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Newtown Jets. The Rabbitohs and Jets have won the Cup once each.
As a curtain raiser to the NRL fixture between the same clubs, the Rabbitohs will play the Sharks in the Jersey Flegg Cup under 21s men’s fixture to be played at Ocean Protect Stadium on Sunday 2 August at 11:35am.
The NSW Women’s Premiership has a full competition bye this weekend.
