The South Sydney Rabbitohs’ Jersey Flegg Cup team secured their first win of the season, over arch rivals, the Sydney Roosters, whilst the SG Ball Cup and Harold Matthews Cup teams will head to the Finals of their respective competitions after locking in third and seventh places on their respective ladders upon the completion of the regular season matches.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs NSW Cup men’s team went down to the Sydney Roosters on Sunday afternoon at Redfern Oval, 24 points to ten.
The Rabbitohs led four-nil early thanks to a try to centre Carson Kaho, however they would trail 12-4 at the half time break. They were first to score in the second half through middle forward Daniel O’Donnell, however two further tries to the visitors secured the win.
Kaho, fullback Terrell Kalo Kalo, hooker Ryan Gray, prop Salesi Ataata, second rower Henry O’Kane and lock Liam Le Blanc were rated the Rabbitohs’ best, with halfback Lewis Dodd setting up a try.
Sydney Roosters 24 defeated South Sydney Rabbitohs 10 (Carson Kaho, Daniel O’Donnell tries; Fletcher Myers goal)
The South Sydney Rabbitohs’ Jersey Flegg Cup under 21s men’s team secured their first win of the season with a thumping 38-10 win over the Sydney Roosters at Redfern Oval on Sunday.
Winger Daniel Waqa and interchange player Ben Geary both scored doubles in the eight-tries-to-two rout of their arch rivals with further tries to prop Devante Mihinui, hooker Riley Frame, winger Haizyn Mellars and centre Zane Rugless.
The Rabbitohs’ best were Mihinui who played 80 minutes in the forwards, Frame, second rower Nazareth Taua, prop Josh Alhazim and fullback Dane Towns.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs SG Ball Cup under 19s men’s team have finished the regular season in third place despite falling 30 points to 28 in their final match against the Bulldogs at Hammondville Oval on Saturday.
Four tries to five-eighth Taj Alvarez kept the Rabbitohs in the game, including a final minute try which gave the team the opportunity to draw the game with a successful conversion. Unfortunately, the goal attempt was waved away, however the Rabbitohs had already secured a top four finish to their season.
Alvarez, Jennings, fullback Charlie Poynton, props Johannes Logan and Elijah Keung, and lock Daniel Lua were South Sydney’s best.
The Rabbitohs will take on the second-placed Canberra Raiders in a Qualifying Final in the first week of the SG Ball Cup finals next weekend.
Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 30 defeated South Sydney Rabbitohs 28 (Taj Alvarez 4, Dayne Jennings tries; Matthew Humphries 4 goals)
The South Sydney Rabbitohs’ Harold Matthews Cup under 17s boys’ team secured their finals berth with a strong 30 points to 18 victory over the Bulldogs at Hammondville Oval on Saturday.
Needing to win to take a place in the finals, they ran in six-tries-to-four against their opposition, including a double to winger Riley Bourne, to finish in seventh place on the ladder at the completion of the regular season.
The Rabbitohs trailed eight-nil early but fought back to level the scores at 12-all at the half time break. They went on with it in the second half, scoring four second half tries to two to take the win.
Bourne, centre Taj Aufai-Farani, prop Anthony Mailangi and lock Keone Anitelea Tsioussis were the best on the field for the Rabbitohs.
The Rabbitohs are set to play the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in an elimination final in week one of the Harold Matthews Cup finals this weekend.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs’ Tarsha Gale Cup under 19s women’s team finished the regular season with a 22-all draw with the North Sydney Bears at Hills Grammar on Sunday.
The Rabbitohs scored with five minutes to play through lock Keilani Manu to take the lead, but a penalty from the kick off gave the Bears the opportunity to square up the scoreboard in the final minute of play.
Centre April Chappell and fullback Teearna Williams were the Rabbitohs’ best, with the side finishing the season in 11th position on the ladder.
South Sydney Rabbitohs 22 (Josephine Zapantis, Sienna Israel, Phoenix Williams, Keilani Manu tries; Kiara McGregor 3 goals) drew with North Sydney Bears 22
The South Sydney Rabbitohs’ Lisa Fiaola Cup under 17s girls’ team finished the regular season with a 34-6 loss at the hands of the North Sydney Bears at Hills Grammar on Sunday.
Prop Victoria Loleni scored the Rabbitohs’ only try for the match with five-eighth Bronte McKee adding the extra points.
Loleni and second rower Payden Brien were the Rabbitohs’ best, their defensive efforts being excellent and their running powerful.
In what was a very difficult season for the young Rabbitohs women’s team, finishing the nine-game season as one of two teams without a win, they showed improvement throughout the year, with their last two performance their best of the season.
