We've Got To Focus: Burgess

Rabbitohs forward, George Burgess, knows that maintaining focus will be crucial for his side as they head into their Round 20 clash against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at Allianz Stadium on Monday night.

Despite coming up short in recent weeks, Burgess is adamant that his side must continue to work hard and focus on the task ahead.

“We’ve just got to go back to the drawing board as they say, (we’ve) got a few things we need to improve on in the video room,” said the front-rower.

“We play Manly this week, so that’s our main focus, not on where we might end up at the end of the season.

“It can get you down if you let it, but you’ve got to stay in the mindset that you’re improving and that you’re working hard.”

After making his return from a groin injury against the Broncos in Round 19, Burgess will be looking to contribute to his side’s improvement in the back end of the season.

“It (the groin) pulled up pretty good after the game, so I’m happy with that. Got some good minutes out and I felt pretty happy with my game, so I’ve just got to keep improving.

“I tried managing it for a lot of the year – for the first third of the year – but it was too hard, so it was a good decision to get it done. It’s been a successful surgery, so I’ve come back feeling pretty good.”

Burgess was solid in his return against the Broncos which saw the English international run for 93 metres with ball in hand and complete 26 tackles in a 43 minute performance.
