There is an excitement running through Rabbitohs HQ as Maguire's men draw nearer to kicking off their 2017 NRL season against the Wests Tigers this Friday.
Maguire cites a strong pre-season that has his team feeling more prepared than ever before as the chief reason behind the high energy levels at the Simply Energy High Performance Centre.
"I'm really looking forward to it. The boys have put a really good pre-season together and now we're looking forward to using it," said Maguire.
"We've been pretty focused around what we need to do. Obviously we've put a lot into the pre-season and how we want to play."
While there has been intense interest in Robbie Farah's first clash against his old team, Maguire is quick to point out that it's all about the team coming into Friday's fixture.
"It's about the team. He's (Farah) shown that in the way he's gone about his training. He's worked very closely with everyone and got the combinations with Greg, Sam and those boys," said Maguire.
With Adam Reynolds missing for the season kick-off, Maguire is keen to see Luke Kelly take his opportunity as he slots into the vacant half spot.
"Unfortunately for Adam, he's going to be out but it gives Luke Kelly a really good opportunity," said Maguire.
"Kel's (Luke Kelly) played a lot of first grade. He's just had an unfortunate run of injuries over his career but he's really healthy at the moment so I'm looking forward to giving him an opportunity.
"I've had a bit of time with Kel down in Melbourne and he showed a lot of form down there. He's a smart footballer, he can push a team around so he brings a fairly similar quality of what Adam is.
"Cody's going to be able to gel off the back of that."
