We Know What We’re Capable Of Now: Turner

After sustaining a serious neck injury in 2015, Rabbitohs forward Kyle Turner was proud to be able to notch up his 50th appearance in the Red and Green in 2016.

The premiership winning back-rower suffered a serious neck injury playing for the Indigenous All Stars in 2015, placing uncertainty over his career.

“Last year with the injury I had, I didn’t really know what I had in store for me and what the future held,” said the Coonabarabran Unicorns junior.

Despite the incident, Turner was able to return to the field at the back-end of last season and featured prominently for the Rabbitohs playing 23 games in 2016 and registering his 50th appearance for the Club – something that is a source of great pride.

“To come back this year and play my 50th, not a lot of people can do that, so I think it’s pretty special.

“I’ll hold it in my memory bank forever.”

With season 2016 coming to an end for the Red and Greens, Turner is looking forward to some down time that will see him head overseas.

“I’m going to go away to Hawaii and LA for a bit and get the mind away from footy,

“Get out of Sydney for a little bit and just enjoy it – enjoy the down time and come back ready to really rip into pre-season.”

Having finished the season with a string of strong performances, Turner is adamant that his side will be ready and raring to go when it comes to season 2017.

“We know what we’re capable of now, it’s just a matter of going out there and doing it next year,” said the back-rower.

“It was unfortunate the way it had to end, but we are happy with the performances that we put on the field and everyone is just looking forward to coming back and ripping in next year.

“It’s really positive.”
