The Gold Coast Titans have named a 22 man team to take on the Rabbitohs this Saturday afternoon at Pizzey Park on the Gold Coast, in what will be the final trial ahead of the 2016 season proper.
A speedy back-line that will feature the return of injured fullback, William Zillman, is set to test the Red and Green defence come Saturday, with the custodian enjoying the support of David Mead and Anthony Don on the Titans wings. In the centres, the young-gun pairing pf Nathan Davis and Brian Kelly will be given an opportunity following strong outings in the Auckland Nines.
In the forward pack, Ryan James, Nathan Friend and David Shillington will fire the Titans engine-room, supported by a back-row that includes former Rabbitoh, Chris McQueen.
The Rabbitohs meanwhile named a strong line-up earlier in the week to contest the match, with Greg Inglis, Adam Reynolds and Thomas Burgess all set to return from All Stars duty, while the match will also see the return of Sam Burgess, playing his first game of Rugby League since the 2014 Grand Final.
But while the big guns will be out in force, the Pizzey Park stage will also provide opportunities to a number of young-guns and new faces in the South Sydney squad.
Following on from solid trial form, Hymel Hunt will partner Bryson Goodwin in the centres, while Cody Walker will form a combination with Reynolds in the Club’s halves.
Zane Musgrove and John Olive will also be given another opportunity in the trial after doing their job for the team in last weekend’s Charity Shield.
