'They never give up' - Allende

South Sydney Rabbitohs women's team Head Coach Danny Allende praised the work ethic of his team after the Red and Green went down narrowly to Mounties in the Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership semi-final.

Missing out on a straight path to the Grand Final at ANZ Stadium in two weeks time, Allende says, while it was a tough way to lose the player never gave up.

"They never give up," said Allende.

"It was tough there we had 12 players on for ten minutes and the girls worked really hard but I think it gassed them in the end and they just didn't have enough energy with the ball but they tried hard, I could never give them enough wraps for putting their bodies on the line, it was a great effort."

Falling short due to a late penalty awarded to Mounties right in front of the sticks, Allende was quick to point out that the Red and Green needed to take responsibility.

"Thirty seconds to go they get a penalty right on our line, which is not a nice way to lose the game but we've got no one else to blame but ourselves and that's the way it is," said Allende.

It's not over yet for the Rabbitohs women who get a second chance at making it to the big one next week against Cabramatta and for Allende is just reward for all the efforts from the team this year.

"It is, you work hard all year to get that second bite and we need it we've got plenty of injuries," said Allende.

"We'll respect Cabramatta it's always a tough game and they played really well today and they'll be on a high, they've got nothing to lose but neither have we. So we'll work hard at training and get back to the drawing board and hope we can chalk up a win."
