The Falcon’s Call To Members

Rabbitohs legend Mario Fenech has called on our passionate supporters to show their commitment to the Club and become Members for 2018.

The former captain was famous for his fiery demeanour on the field, and has channelled that energy into raising the Rabbitohs Membership numbers, which stood at over 30,000 for season 2017 and continues to grow.

Speaking behind the scenes at the Club’s 2018 Membership video shoot at ANZ Stadium, Fenech spoke from the heart about the importance Membership has for the club.

“It’s really important for us to shoot a good video to encourage our fans to bring in the next generation to become Members of the Rabbitohs,” he said.

“South Sydney, in terms of Membership, are number one. Historically no one can hold a candle to Souths and it’s important for us to grow our Membership base and this is a great event.

Affectionately known as ‘The Falcon’, Fenech spoke of the pride that comes with being a Rabbitohs Member, citing the Club’s success having won the most premierships in Australian Rugby League history as a sign of entitlement and as a badge of honour.

“We’ve got the most premierships. A lot of people tell me that Souths are going ordinary but guess what? We’ve got the most premierships.

“The point I’m trying to say is that from a Membership perspective is that it’s really important for us to grow our Membership base and we’re asking the people out there to become Members of Souths.”

“It’s very affordable to become a Member of South Sydney and to be honest if there’s a more famous logo in rugby league than the Rabbitoh, I want to know what it is.”

Fenech was honest in his assessment with the Club, and pointed out that despite this year’s results, there is a very exciting future for the Rabbitohs.

“There’s always hope for Souths. You can’t win the comp every year, that’s not realistic, but the great thing about Souths is that we’re economically in great shape, so we know what we have to do, we can look back and see what went wrong and what went right, how we can get better and we will move forward and get better.

“I would really encourage the next generation and parents to make sure we grow our supporter base and keep us leading the way for Souths.

“We’ve got a lot of good kids coming through that I’m excited about, and the future is bright for the Rabbitohs.”
