Sutton – It Was Good To Get A Run

Returning Second-Rower, John Sutton, whilst disappointed with last night’s result was relieved to be back on the turf and playing for his Rabbitohs in last night’s clash with the Parramatta Eels.

A surprise late inclusion in Maguire’s starting line-up last night, Sutton managed to return several weeks early from his Round One pectoral injury to captain the Rabbitohs in the absence of Greg Inglis.

While sidelined through injury John Sutton continued to contribute to the team through his regular presence in the side’s meetings and video sessions, contributing his experience to the younger players in the squad and helping them progress.

It was clear at the Rabbitohs recovery media session today (Saturday), however, that his greatest joy came from getting the medical tick to lead out his Rabbitohs last night against the Eels.

“It was very frustrating on the sidelines. It was good to get a run but very disappointing in the result,” admitted Sutton.

It didn’t take long for Sutton to get back into the groove as he managed to run for 124m from 11 runs, second only to Alex Johnston, and manage 21 tackles in two stints on the pitch.

“The first half wasn’t too bad but there was period there in the second half where we turned over the ball too much and gave Parramatta too much field position and it cost us.”
