Souths continue Juniors production line with Hiroti inclusion

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have once again shown off the depth of their Juniors with outside back Mawene Hiroti in line to make his debut for the Red and Green.

Named on the bench, the young speedster will provide solid cover for a new look backline for this Thursday night's clash against the Brisbane Broncos.

Plying his trade with the North Sydney Bears this season Hiroti has played a pivotal role in the young Bears push for the finals in the Intrust Super Premiership.

Hiroti joins a long line of Rabbitohs youngsters, who have made the jump to the NRL over the last two seasons.

In the current squad, there are eight players who have made their debuts with the Rabbitohs since 2016, with Hiroti poised to be the ninth if he gets a run on the field on Thursday night.

Angus Crichton, Zane Musgrove, Cameron Murray, Tyrell Fuimaono, Braidon Burns, Campbell Graham, Tevita Tatola and Adam Doueihi have all made their debuts and have gone on to play consistent first-grade football in Rabbitohs colours.

Rabbtiohs halfback Adam Reynolds is expecting the inexperienced Hiroti to really step up with his new found opportunity, telling's Chris Kennedy that his debut was a bound to happen at some point.

"He is fast, very fast; he is a good kid with a good attitude," said Reynolds.

"He is a young bloke and he has been biting at the heels for a bit now, and he has been playing well in reserve grade. I'm looking forward to seeing him when he gets his chance."

Get to know... Mawene Hiroti

A man who has spent time playing alongside Hiroti is Club veteran Jason Clark, who told that the lightning-fast outside back will no doubt take his opportunity with both hands.

"At the start [of the season] I played some reserve grade with him and he stood up there and was playing some good football," said Clark.

"So as an older bloke now I'm very humbled and happy for him that he is getting the opportunity to play and I know he will enjoy it and do his family proud."
