There were no signs of second year syndrome for Rabbitohs’ livewire Cody Walker, backing up his impressive debut season with an even better campaign in 2017.
Walker exploded off the blocks, spearheading the Red and Green attack at five-eighth, eventually finishing in the Top 5 for both try assists and linebreak assists.
The 27-year-old’s versatility was on show as well, having filled in at fullback for a large chunk of the season, and while he did revert back to the halves by the end of the season, the positional change failed to waver his form as he continued to provide the spark that the team needed at times.
While final results were disappointing, Walker’s scintillating form was a highlight of the season, and plenty will be keen to see what he can bring to the table in 2018.
