Review 2017: Cam Murray

Proud Souths Junior Cam Murray had quite the meteoric rise to a first grade in 2017, going from bench player to starting lock in the span of than 9 games, displacing captain Sam Burgess from the No.13 jersey in the process.

Making his debut in Round 8 in the controversial loss to the Broncos, Murray wouldn’t see a victory until his fifth game in the top grade in the last minute win against the Dragons in Round 22, which was the start of a three match winning streak.

Having shown some strong form in his first half dozen games, it was his performance against the Warriors that proved he belongs in the NRL, running for 122 metres, making 47 tackles and scoring his first NRL try in the process in his first 80 minute match and at lock.

The 19-year-old junior representative is just one example of the exciting young players coming through the Club, and after a strong debut season, Cam Murray looks to have a bright future in Red and Green.
