Rabbitohs Make Dream Come True

Dreams do come true. A terminally ill Rabbitohs supporter recently had one of her dreams come true thanks to Souths Cares Ambassador, Beau Champion.

Dianne, who is living with metastatic cancer, had registered her wish to meet the Rabbitohs with Dreams2live4 – a nationally registered charity that helps to make dreams come true.

And come true it did when Dianne visited the Simply Energy High Performance Centre, Redfern Oval, to watch her men in Red and Green train on the hallowed turf.

Dianne met with a number of Rabbitohs during the special visit, with the likes of Jason Clark, Bryson Goodwin and the Burgess brothers all taking time out to have a laugh, pose for photos and sign autographs.

Former Rabbitoh, Champion, said it was a pleasure for him and the Souths Cares team to host Dianne on a tour of the Rabbitohs’ facilities in Redfern as well as introducing her to the players.

“Giving back to our supporters has always been high on my list,” said Beau.

“To see how happy she was to be at training and meet some of the boys makes it all worthwhile. Rugby League players have the ability to do a lot of good off the field as well as on it and that’s what the Rabbitohs and Souths Cares seek to do.”

For Dianne, the visit represented a chance to connect with the source of her incredible strength – her Rabbitohs inspiring her.

“If I’m having a bad day, I think ‘fight like a Rabbitoh’,” smiled Dianne.
