The South Sydney Rabbitohs are pleased to announce the Club's Intrust Super Premiership and Jersey Flegg Pathways squads for 2019.
In a momentous occasion, the Club will field an ISP side under the South Sydney Rabbitohs banner for the first time since 2006, after playing under the North Sydney Bears moniker for twelve seasons, while the Jersey Flegg side will also return to wearing Red and Green after a year as the Bears.
The Pathways squads will also play a number of home matches throughout the season at the Metricon High-Performance Centre at Redfern Oval, beginning with the Return to Redfern trial match on February 23. This will provide Members and supporters with a great opportunity to watch a number of grades on game day through 2019 in what is set to be a nostalgic experience at the Club's spiritual ground.
The Club has also implemented an Integrated Pathways system, whereby each and every grade from Harold Matthews under 16s to the Intrust Super Premiership will collaborate in training sessions throughout the season in an effort to better acquaint squads and coaching staff to attain the best results possible.
Shane MillardFans can see the kid coming from Harold Matts, they can see them coming through all the grades all the way up until their first-grade debut.
The Intrust Super Premiership squad includes a mix of players from last year's squad, new recruits and graduates from the lower grades, as well as a couple of familiar faces making their return to the Club, and will be coached by Shane Millard.
Having coached the North Sydney Bears ISP side last season, Millard was excited to not only continue his role as Head Coach but also praised the Club's decision to implement the Integrated Pathways.
"It creates more of Club, old school environment," Millard explained.
"Fans can see the kid coming from Harold Matts, they can see them coming through all the grades all the way up until their first-grade debut.
"There's a genuine pathway."
The Jersey Flegg squad will feature a number of exciting prospects, with a combination of local juniors and representative players who will no doubt feature in the Cardinal and Myrtle in the future and will be mentored under Rabbitohs Pathways and Player Education Manager, Ben Rogers.
