Quotes of the week - Round 13

The South Sydney Rabbitohs clash with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks is arguably the match of the Round and has plenty of people talking about the duel between in-form teams of the comp.

With plenty of air miles clocked up over the last two weeks, the Rabbitohs players enjoyed a well-deserved rest before getting right back into training as they prepared for the Sharks.

There has been plenty of talk in the build-up to this game and many of the Rabbitohs players and officials have also had their say on what is set to be a gruelling encounter.

Adam Reynolds

It's a good thing, he's a good player and a great utility for us he filled in at halfback when i was out. He is making our team better and I can't praise him enough.

Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds got the ball rolling this week when he fronted media on Tuesday.

With plenty of missing this week due to Origin selection, Rabbitohs star utility Adam Doueihi was selected at fullback. The decision had a lot of sports pundits asking questions but Reynolds was quick to remind people of the immense talent that Doueihi possesses and believes his presences in this years team is only making the Red and Green better.

George Burgess

It's definitely better than losing but you've just got to stay grounded and not get too far ahead of yourself.

Prop George Burgess is one of the senior members of the Rabbitohs squad now and this game he will be taking on extra responsibilities as he looks to help his side continue its winning ways.

Robert Jennings

We’ve got boys that have played first grade and have had a taste of it, so we’ve got a good depth in the backs and in the forwards as well so I’m confident that we can get the job done.

Finally outside back Robert Jennings who returned to the side last week believes that the depth the Rabbitohs have across the park will more than cover for the absent rep players.

Shane Richardson

“The Rabbitoh way is about trying to recruit internally and we had two great assistant coaches in David Furner and Anthony Seibold, we had 12 months of seeing what 'Seibs' could do. So when the decision was made regarding Michael Maguire I never had any doubts that Anthony Seibold would step up in and do the job.

With two losses to start the season, the Rabbitohs have bounced their way up the table into third surprising many in the process. However, for Club General Manager of Football Shane Richardson, the current position on the ladder came as to surprise.

Anthony Seibold

“From our point of view we try to base our game model around principals so regardless of who’s in the jersey the job doesn’t change it’s the next man up mentality.

To wrap up the week Head Coach Anthony Seibold gave high praise to those coming in to fill the void of the missing rep players saying that the players coming in have been waiting for this opportunity all season.
