Mal Meninga's PMXIII squad have triumphed over a weakened PNG side 48-8 in hot conditions at Port Moresby Stadium in front of an energetic crowd of 13,468 screaming fans.
It would take the visitors longer than expected to break down a PNG team missing most of their star players who were preparing with the PNG Hunters for Sunday's Intrust Super Cup clash in Brisbane.
Tom Trbojevic would open the scoring for the PMXIII side but the Meninga's squad would be left stunned after PNG hit back through Stanford Talita before the home side took the lead through a penalty goal to Jason Misian.
Despite trailing 8-6 early in the game, the Australian squad never looked likely to lose the match. Tyson Frizell restored the lead for the visitors after breaking the PNG line to score.
Hat-tricks to both Tom Trbojevic and James Tedesco highlighted the strike power of the PMXIII whilst Andrew Fifita showed his talent with the boot by converting Tedesco's third try in the dying minutes.
James Maloney finished with 16 points to his name after converting all six of his attempts and scoring a late try.
The victory came at a price for the Australians as Dylan Walker was stretchered from the field with a suspected dislocated ankle.
